Journaling Exercise: What is Your Random Act of Kindness?

Hello, My Dottlings!

My friends are going to be upset, but I drove a homeless man to a soup kitchen today.  I can hear the collective sounds of dismay.  Some of you may know I used to work with the homeless population in a not-so-great area.  They are, for the most part, just people.  Some of them are people with severe mental illnesses.  A lot of them just need a little help to get into the system and get what they need.

The point is they are neither good nor bad just because they are homeless.  I would never put myself on the line more than a car ride.  It’s not something I’m suggesting you do.

I definitely understand why people don’t want to help a stranger.  Helping people you know is a lot smarter and safer.   Your elderly neighbor could probably use a hand.  The thing to remember is no act of kindness should hurt you.  There are people that will try to take advantage.

Not everyone can be helped, but it’s nice to do what you can when you can.
