I don’t know about you, but I’m about one heart break from becoming a crazy mountain dog lady. Definitely time to brush up on my survival/homesteading skills. Roughly 85% of my business comes from relationship readings. How do we know if a relationship is going to work?
Obviously, if I had a fool proof answer this fool wouldn’t be alone, again. I’m still not 100% on what I want, but I have some ideas. Let’s look at 3 green flags. Yes, we’re doing this. Yes, I’m late to the party. If you don’t have all three of these, you can’t build a life together.
Number One: Clear Relationship Goals
There’s no problem with a relationship that has a built-in expectation date, but that needs to be clear. If you’re thinking till the end of summer, but your partner is thinking till the end of the world. It’s going to be hard for them to move on when the leaves change. Other things to discuss include kids, location, career. If you’re not able to be honest about what you want out of a relationship, then it’s not going to work.
Number Two: Problem Solving Compatibility
It’s not reasonable to expect adults to meet eye to eye on every subject. No two adults are alike. Maybe hard to find a solution but the process of working on it is how you build a life together. Not every problem has to be earth-shattering. Sometimes the simple task of putting something together will show you if you’re capable of problem solving together.
Number Three: Basic Empathy
It’s way more than not putting hands on each other. It’s not something that can be said. Are they stressed when you’re sick? Are you happy to see them excited about something you normally don’t care about? Most people will care a little, but most people won’t go out of their way to help fix others’ problems.
I want you to notice I didn’t use the word love. True love starts from the seed of respect planted in common ground and watered with compassion. That’s how you find someone you can build a life with. If you’re looking for someone to love, then start by looking in the mirror. The person there has been waiting too long.
